RESUME,
This work'' A contrastive study of the pluralization in English and Kirundi languages'' aims at comparing English and Kirundi languages.Thus,the following hypotheses guided the researcher a long this work:Firdt,English and Kirundi present similarities and differences in teams of pluralization.
second,contrastive analysis contributes to learning English as a foreign language.In fact,any academic research requires following an appropriate methodology.As a library work,most of the data were collected from various books containing items which constituted the fundamental elements on which the work under study was based.These were English and Kirundi grammar books mostly developing the pluralization of parts of speech and books dealing with contrastive analysis of English and Kirundi languages.These parts of speech,concerned by this study,were described and pluralized,which made the analysis much more easier.In this way,parts of speech of the analysis,it has been revealed that english and Kirundi,though they neither share the same family nor have the same origin,exhibit some similarities and differences in the parts of speech they distinguish form their plural.In the light of these similarities and differences,knowing them makes learners of either of the two languages understand better the structures of eachof them.In the light of these similarities and differences ,knowing them makes learners of either of the two languages unterstand better the structures of each of them.It is in this perspective that the govemment was recommended to avail as many vooks about Kirundi grammar as possible in mant accessiblelibraries.Il should also tackle the problem of lexicography by producing bilingual dictionaries containing English words ,phrases and idioms with their equivalences in Kirundi language.This will facilitate the task of further researchers during their linguistic studies.
