RESUME,

Investigating on the writing skill was influenced by our desire to find out how this skill is taught and learned.In do far,the problems which both secondary school teachers and pupils encounter in their teaching and learning activities was thus the focus of our investigation.If one takes into account the importance of English language in Burundian education system,some questions can raise in mind:Burundian secondary school pupils have really the opportunity to learn English language in general and writing skill in particular?are teachers investing sufficiently in teachingtheir pupils that important skill that is writing?Are there enough teaching materials of English language in general and those of the writing skill in particular? What can be done to overcome the problems which hamper the teaching and learning of the writing skill in Burundian secondary schools especially in Arts third forms? The results which we will find out after our investigation will help us to give recommandatations and thus to find out solutions of those problems which hamper the development of writing skill in Burundian secondary schools taking account the case of Arts third form in some schools of Bujumbura city.The present thesis is compsed by five chapters.The introduction which deals with different stages that compose the whole work.Review of related litterature which deals with different stages that compose the whole work.Review of related literature which deals with the related works to the problems involved in the teaching and learning of the writing skill.
Methodology which shows the methods and techniques used to gather and collect the data.Data analysis and findings which deals with the analysis of data collected and thus shows the findings.General conclusion and recommandations ;the final section which pelps to make conclusion of the whole work and give recommandations to those who play the role in the teaching and learning of English writing skill in Burundian secondary schools.
