RESUME,

The topic "Learner's Attitudes towards the writing skill in English.A case study of first form arts Learners in some .selected secondary schools of Mwaro Province"was carried out to investigate the nature of learners' attitudes to wards the writing skill in English as well as the factors that influence in a way or another such attitudes.In fact,we see from everyday observation that Iearners tend to perform badly in English writing,we visited eight secondary schools in the Pronvincial Education Directorate of Mwaro and we focused on First Form arts.We used teachers ' and learners questionnaires as well as classroom observation.The results showed that learners' of first form arts have moderately positive attitudes towards the writing skill in English .These positive attitudes are due to the transition from traditional to up-to -date methodology of teaching the writing skill.However,even though learners witnessed that they have a positive attitude towards the writing skill ,they reported that their writing skill,they reported that their writing is hindered by different different problems namely the lack of vocabulary words,the scarcity of reading books,and the non-mastery of different grammatical structures.
