Résumé,

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how the listening and pseaking skills are mastered in fifth form of Burundi secondary schools. A number of secondary school teachers and pupils have been sed to investigate it In fact, teaching process requires many conditions such as human resources who are competent and pupils who have positive attitudes towards what they are learning. In addition, it reqires the teaching materials to guide the teacher in his profession. That is the pupils should be guided by the materials in the learning process.

Nevertheless, the research that here is a lack materals used in Burundi secondary schools, especially in fifth form which may constitute a handicap in the teaching-learning process. The class sizes and the learners' negative attitudes towards English language are also the barriers to the achievement the learners' performance.

This study enables us to give our contribution on what should be done concerning the findings of ths work. Finally, we make recommendations to different concerned persons in order to solve the problems identified.
