Résumé,

This work entitled : "impact of the lack of qualified teachers and teaching materials on learners' oral performance in English as a foreign language in private schools in Bujumbura", the case of 1st section, aims at showing the relationship between teachers' qualification and the quality of learning of students.

The hypotheses in this work are that the qualification of teachers contributes to the quality of learning of students in English, qualified teachers use more appropriate methods than non-qualified ones in teaching English in secondary schools, and that the lack of teaching materials does not facilitate a good learning of English language. Two types of questionnaire we used. One was designed for first form arts students and another for their English teachers.
After ther analysis of the collected data, I found that the quality of learning depends upon their teachers' qualification. Also, I observed that the lack of teaching materials does not facilitate a good learning of English language in secondary schools. In addition, I noted that qualified teachers handle well their teaching comparing to non-qualified ones.
