Résumé,
This study aims a assessing the impact of large class size on the teaching and learning of the speaking skill. In fact. that factor affects negatively the students' proficiency in spoken English. The work was motivated by the fact that students, even though they study English through English, are not good at spoken English. This work has to answer to four research questions about classroom management, teaching methodology, the practice and performance of the students. The area of his study is the English Department at the University of Burundi. The data collected in this environment were put together, analyzed, interpreted and after compared. The findings revealed that the results from the analysis of gathered data from the field meet the research hypotheses by answering the four research questions. To find a solution to this problem, some recommendation were made to different partners in this process namely, the government and the curriculum designers, the department of English Language and literature and the teachers. Finally, recommendations are directed to the students who are the most concerned by this problem.
