Résumé

The present study on "Classroom management techniques used in teaching English in some selected public primary schools in Rumonge commune" was undertaken to evaluate the methods and managerial techniques used in teaching English in public primary schools in Rumonge commune especially in the sixth grade.

This study is an attempt to the assessment of the way English is taught in primary schools given the fact that the English level of pupils at the beginining of secondary school is not satisfactory, although English is now taught from the first year of primary schools. In fact, with the increase of the population in our country, there is a great number of students attending schools and then classes are very large and difficult to mange. That is why there is a strong need of evaluatin the methods and managerial techniques that are being used in primary schools. Furthermore, as the government of Burundi has granted free education, there is no doubt that almost all children at the age of seven are now attending schools, and this will give rise to classroom management problems. It is therefore crucial for this work to reinforce what other researchers have already done in this domain since the English language has nowdays gained an important status in Burundi.
