Résumé,<br/><br/>The present work deals with the Impact of Emotional Abuse and Self-esteem on the acquisition of Spoken English : The case of second form arts students in some selected schools in Cibitoke province. It was conducted in seven selected schools with a sample of 150 respondents who were randomly selected.<br/>It concerned itself with finding out the relationship between emotional abuse and self-esteem and their impact on the acquisition of spoken English.<br/><br/>The aim of this study was to investigate whether there is any relationship between emotional abuse and self-esteem and their impact on the acquisition of spoken English. The following research questions were formulated :<br/>- What is the relationship between emotional abuse self-esteem ?<br/>- What are the socio-cultural factors that affect self-esteem for learners of English as a second language in speaking English ?<br/>- What is the impact of emotional abuse and self-esteem on the acquisition of spoken English ?<br/><br/>After the analysis of the data, it was discovered that there is a positive relationship between emotional abuse and self-esteem. It was also found out that the family and school are some of the socio-cultural factors which affect the learners of English as a second language in speaking English. Moreover, this study revealed that self-esteem empowers the acquisition of spoken English while emotional abuse hinders it.<br/><br/>Finally, based on the finding of this work, the researcher made some recommendation to whom it may concern for the purpose of raising self-esteem for learners of English as a second language so that they acquire the spoken English effectively.<br/> |
