RÉSUME,

This study was conducted about the challenges faced by English language teachers of post-basic school science section in public schools. The study aims to find out the challenges encountered by English language teachers of the science section of post-basic public schools. It is guded by three research questions which are first to know if it is difficult to teach English in science section of post-basic school, second what can be the challenges while teaching English language in science section of post-basic school, and third what can be the solutions to existing challenges. I visited literary works that could procide me knowledge and information to write my dissertation. I went to collect information from nine public schools in Bujumbura city and investigated through questionnaires addressed to English teachers and head teachers of the selected schools. I also used observation to collect information.In the end i found out there were numerous challenges.Among them are tree major challenges,there is generally an important lack to teaching material,the classes are too big,and the curriculum is too wide for the length of the school year and complicated for the learners level.In conclusion,to teach a language one needs to be qualified and available,to have sufficient teaching material,to have a normal class size,an adequate curriculum and an intersting motivation.Taking into account the findings and conclusions arising from m study,The future researchers and to the government to contributr in overcoming the challenges faced by english language teachers of science section of post basic public schools.
