RESUME,

This study examines the phasing out of folkales as a process of educating,thought expressing and moral lesson vehicle.The work is made of tree objectives .first ,to find out that Burundians express their thoughts,feelings and convey moral lessons trough folktales msecond,to identify the level of performance of folktales in Burundi,third, to find out the potentiel causes of neglect of folktales.To achieve the mentioned objectives,questionnaires were administered to children and adult peaple of Tangara Commune in Ngozi Province.The population was made of twenty children and twenty adults .The results of the work are as follows both children and adults admitted that thoughts and lessons are expressed through entertainment using folktales.They also admitted not taking enough time to perform them and reasons were provided.modernity,that is,introduction of digital technologies has negatively impacted the perfor;ance of folktales,poverty,death of elders and lack of interest were mentioned.Consequently,recommendation have been made as possible solutions to those issues.the govemment,the parentsmeducational plannersmand teachers can work together to halt the emergence of pop culture ravaging our traditional values.
