RÉSUME,

This work titled " Negotiation cultural and Political space: A study of Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart and Peter Abraham's A wreath for Udomo" examines the way through which the two authors depict, the negotiation of a space for the African culture and the second participation of African in the political sphere of their continent during the colonial era. The work aims at analysing how the authors paint and portray the African culture, and socio-political background in the ancient Africa, before the advent of colonisation, which eventually destroys the harmony of indigenes. This work is carried out to show how theauthors expose the deep rooted culture and social organisations of the Africans and how they conflist with western ways of life. Written against the background of New Historicism, this work looks at the two main works understudy by showing how the ancient African socio-cultural and political beliefs and pratices suffer under the yoke of colonial pressures. This study is carried out based on the assumption that the characters in Chinua Achebe's Things fangs Apart and Peter Abraham's A Wreath for Udomo are involved in the struggle for the negotiation of cultural and political space.
