RÉSUME,

This work examines the question of religion used by capitalists as a tool of exploitation and how this exploitation has been perpetuated by some black people as presented in Ngugi wa Mirii in their work I will Marry when I want. It explores the struggle of the barives especially the peasants against new leaders who collaborate with the former colonial masters to exploit the poor. This is done by analysing the relationship between the owners of factories and the workers. This study goes further toexamine the conditions in which the labourers work and live and the affluence of the selfish leaders. The study equally investigates the process of conscientization of the masses and their eventual rise against the oppressors. This study is based on the assumption that capitalist leaders in I Will Marry When I Want use the bible as a tool to exploit the poor and not to evangelize. Through Marxism, this work exposes the greedy attitude of post- independance leaders in Kenya and how they bettrayed the confidence the people entrusted in them. It pictures how Kenyan leaders appropriates the Bible and used it to satisfy their thirst for money. Through our analysis, it was discovered that some people use the bible to attain their personal aims. In this light, we are calling on our readers to be careful and with those who preach the gospel for some may not have genuine intentions. To know that self-interest and greed lead to disintegration. This work recommends that religion should not used as exploitive tool. It should be used as means of unity and consolidation of societies.
