RÉSUME,

The present study investigates the impact of the Academic Collocation List ( ACL ) in the domain of English teaching and collocation use. This study for improving English speaking and writing proficiency. Studies have shown that collocations have a significant impact to the improvement of English speaking and writing. Participants of BAC3 English majors from the Department of English Language and Literature ( DELL ) of the University of Burundi were administered collocation tests based to the ACL use. Exercises were selected in McCarthy and O'Dell textbook English Collocation Use.They were consiting of checking their level of using collocation in general and the ACL in particular to improve their English speaking and writing flueney. Participants were to answer a questionnaire as well to get their assessment of the ACL. Results show that a number of them are not aware of the ACL and its impact in the improvement collocation mastering.

Through the same results it has been observed that those who are aware of ACL use and who are familiar with it are those who perform well in the matter of English speaking and writing flurncy. This implies that teaching collocation from academic and general vocabulary through an explicit exploration of the ACL will contribute to the improvement of their level of collocational growth and, mastering for raising their English mastering and speaking and writing fluency. The contibution of this study is to show how the ACL could be used as an important tool to first help student to master vocabulary in general and then collocation in particular to develop and raise their English speaking and writing fluency. On the basis findings, it can be confirmed that Academic Collocation List is a best tool which I would like to be recommend to use if we relly want to bring a change in terms of getting Burundian English Foreign Learners to be more fluent.
