Résumé,

This study aims at identifying difficulties encountered in teaching and learning English. It was structured around the following hypotheses : Some teachers are not qualified to teach English in Eighth form grade. The teaching materials are not enough for the development of the English language. There are solutions to remedy to problems learners face while learning English in Eighth form. The researcher elaborated the written questionnaires that he gave to teaches and learners of the selected schools of Kayogoro commune. Fifteen teachers and one hundred learners answered to the questionnaires. After analyzing the results, the researcher found out that eighth grade learners fail to develop the English skills because so many teachers (80%) are not qualified to teach English. The lack of materials is also an obstacle to the mastering of the different English skills. The results also revealed the vast majority of teachers do not use appropriate techniques.
