Résume,

The present work deals with the assessment of the speaking skill teaching/ Learning in English teaching centers. The primary aim of my research i s to analyse how the process of teaching/ Learning of the speaking skill is carried in IL C, EACH and ELC. The data were collected by means of questionnaires given to both learner and teachers and a speaking test for learners in the advanced level. In addition, the classroom observation was also organized so as to have a critical assessment of what actually happens in the classroom. Fitty learners and three teachers participated as informants in this study. Throughout this research, it was found out that the teaching materials used in teaching the speaking skill are not sufficient. Moreover, the study revealed that the strategies used to teach the speaking skill in ILC. ELC and EACH are not appropriate. In fact teachers ignore some aspects of the speaking skill such as grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary whereas they are very important. Finally the study has proven that the teaching period from the beginning level to the advanced level is not enough for learners to be fluent in the spoken English
