Résumé,

This work entitled " A Proposal of Audio-Visual Materials to Improve the Teaching and Learning of English in Ninth Form of Burundi Secondary Schools" aims to explain why audio-visual materials need to be included while teaching English in Ninth Form. The researcher seeks to present the advantages for learners when this approach is adopted. This study was conducted in Bujumbura Municipality where 20 Schools were surveyed. It was structured around three hypotheses : Teachers of English do not use audio-visual materials in Ninth Form, There is a lack of audio-visual materials in Ninth Form and audio-visual materials should be used by teachers while teaching English through the new textbook. For this purpose, the researcher used two instruments : classroom observation, questionnaires for teachers, pupils and curriculum designers to collect the data. The latter were presented, analyzed and interpreted.

It was discovered that the respondents found audio-visual materials helpful given that they concretize knowledge and facilitate the learning of the language.
It was also found out that learners showed that they really liked audio-visual materials and wanted them to be introduced in their English course. In the end, recommendations are made to the education stakeholders to emphasize the use of audio-visuals and to determine which ones to use and where to use them in the suggested curricula.
