Résume,

This work set out to examine infidelity in julius Ocwinyo's Fate of the Bamished. It deals with the responsibilities, infidelity in marriage and the impacts of this marital infidelity on the lives of the partners and those around them. As a result of the analysis, we found out that marital infidelity often causes many problems which destroy the relationship of spouses. It equally tackles the consequences of the priests breaking of the vow of celibacy. In this light, our work seeks to prove the assumption that the major characters in julius Ocwinyo's Fate of the Bamished fall into unwanted sexual intercourse as a result of long absence of spouse and the oath of celibacy to which catholic priests are subjected. Using the psychoanalytic approach, our work concludes that the law of celibacy which bars priests from taking wives, leads them to troubles. In view of these findings, it is recommended to spouses to promote a coherent dialogue in order to respond positively to probable misunderstandings. We also suggest that priests who cannot keep this vow should be allowed to marry in order to reduce infidelity among the leaders of the Catholic Church.
