RESUME,

The present work is a sociolinguistic study of the jargon used by Buhiga lycee pupils during the 2016-2017 school year. The researcher made investigation to find out whetther or not the jargon used by Buhiga secondary school pupils was understandable by any outsiders to the group, their objective of using it and the real meaning of their jargon as well as the origin of the words and expressions constituting that jargon.Sixty pupils, from four classes that is,4 th and 3 rd forms of pedagogical section and 1st and 2 nd Arts forms who spent at least who years at that school, were taken as the subjects of my study. The instruments used to gather the data were :questionnaire, recorded interview and observation. The answers to the specific researcher questions were categorized and then analysed to find out that those words and expressions really mean.Gestures and non-verbal forms have been analysed to show the importance of paralinguistic elements. The study revealed that Buhiga pupil's jargon was connected to their daily life at school itself in order to hide their secrets and realities to keep their identity from the outside people. The researcher also made some recommendations to future researchers. This work is made up of five chapters: The general introduction,Litterature Rvieuw wich deals with the existing theories about sociolinguisties. The methodology of the study, the Data presentation.Analysis and interpratation of the findings and finally the general conclusion.
