RESUME,

The study was conducted to investigate how authentic materials could improve the learners' performance in listining comprehension.In teaching -learning listening skill,the authentic materials could have a certain impact on the learners' development in that skill.This work contibutes to check the sufficiency and the availability of different materials in english in general and in lestining in particular.Using questionnaires for 24 teachers and 84 students for 12 schools in 6 commune of Rutana Province,holding an interview with the B.E.P..E.P.F staff,the outcome of the research showed that materials were not sufficient,available and even the ones found were not totally authentic.Recommendations were addressed to learners,teachers,school headmasters,course designers,Govemment and further reseachers especially with this new educational system introduced in Burundi.
