RESUME,

The present study dealt with a <<sociolinguistic study of the jargon used by Musaga Motorcyclists;the case of Gasekebuye Motorcyclist Community ".The researcher made an investigation about that jargon used aiming used aiming to find out:The researcher made an investigation about that jargon used aiming to find out:(1) whether there is or not a relaship between literal and social meanings in words and expressions which make that jargon ;(ii) Musaga motocyclists' professional identity and prove whether or not the jargon they use reflects its users' identity,(iii) our society's image as mirrored through Musaga motorcyclists were investigated as subjects in the field study while five (5) were used in the pilot study.The instruments used to collect data were interview,focus Group discussions and direct observation where information got was to be analysed later.The study revealed that there is a relationship between social and literal meanings in Musaga motorcyclists' jargon,that this jargon reflects not only its users' professional identity but alsoits users' environment was mirrored ,our society's image is negatively depicted;security ,social trust,communication facilitation and entertainment are objectives in using this jargon.
