ABSTRACT,

The aim of this work is to examine through Beowulf and the First and Second Biblical Books of Samuel leadership qualities and what positive impact they exert on their respective societies? Through the characters of Beowulf and King David, we attempt to show how leadership must be understood not simply as a luxurious position but as an opportunity to serve and to meet people's needs. In this way, the responsibility of Beawulf and King David is made ckear through their risky and wholehearted decision of fighting against that would take away their lives. It is by their attitudes and accomplishments that they are acknowledged as leaders who were, not onlmy willing to lead their communities out of oppression, but also to sacrifice their lives in exchange of their people's interest. Basing our arguments on Beowulf and The First and Second Biblical Books of Samuel, this work oprates on the hypothesis that, no matter the degree of challenges faced; good leaders never give up the struggle for the protection and welfare of their people. That is illustrated whan we look at the world portrayed in the Anglo-Saxon and The Traditional Jewish Societies. Both societies are oppressed by external evil powers. The two works under comparative study show that people in the Scandinavia and in the Jewish society live in a costant fear of foreign attacks and how Beowulkf and king David act upon that situation as effective leaders and for that reason, the following research questions are raised:

- What leadership qualities are expected of a good leader?
- What are the impact of a good leader?
- What are the similaities and dissimilarities in the leadership of Beowulf and King David?
