RESUME,
The purpose of this study is to find out the reason why speakers use euphemism in their communication in Bukeye commune. To carry out the research, three research questions were designed. Firstly it was to know why people use euphemism, secondly when they use it. The sample of this study was selected among the inhaitants of Bukeye commune by convenience sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire. After a thorough analysis, it was found that euphemism is used to help the listener receive the message and its meaning in away which is not harsh or blunt especially when it refers to something unpleasant or embarrassing such as things relating to death, sexual body parts or when a speaker wants to show some respect toward his listener.
