RESUME,

The present work deals with Rundi proverbs as medium of socioeconomic regulation.This work was motivated by the fact that Rundi proverbs are reglected by younger generations.Moreover,many researchers made investigation into semantic and pragmatic fields.The same work aims at preserving and reinforcing good education through Rundi proberbs.As the goal of oral litterature is to correct the social ills,this work also discourages the behaviour of wasting and advises people to save as much as possible.This study was conducted in Muramvya province.The instrument used for data gathering was an interview.A number of people were asked to perform Rundi proverbs related to the topic.Thereafter,the Rundi proverbs were analyzed within the framework of sociological approach.Findings have proved that through Rundi proverbs,positive values are transmitted.Furthermore,those values teach morality as well as ethics in Burundian society.Considering the importance of Rundi proberbs,the goverment should give great emphasis on them by supporting the researchers in that domain.As such,it will help multiply the books which facilitate the propagation of the Rundi proverbs.
