RESUME,

This work sets out to examine the greed and manipulation of the colonizers and their African messengers during colonial and post-colonial period in Kenya Ngugi Wa Thiong'o in his works expose their socio-political and economic mal-intentions and calls on the marginalised masses to rise up against theses oppressors. It also shows the tactics they used to achieve their goals. It reveals how the local rulers manupulate the ordinary proletariats to attain their economic gains. This work shows that the main problem that kenyans face in the immediate post-independance era was not the lack of resources but the confiscation of national resources by a few in power backed by the former colonial power. Through our analysis of the novels, we realised that imperialists employ terror and imprisonment to achieve economic dreams.
They use the army ( homme guards ) to suppress their opponents. Marxist theory which we adopt in this study enables us to better distinguish the conflict between the Whiteman and Blackman, the bourgeoisie and the proletariats. This study operates on the hypothetical assumption that capitalists and imperialist leaders in power in A Grain of Wheat and Petals of Blood do not work in the interest of the poor, and that the marginalization of the masses creates awareness and the spirit of revolution which ends with the overthrow of the oppressor. We therefore call on our readers to fight against that oppression and marginalisation breed contempt which bring about negative consequences on both sides.
