Résumé,

This work entitled : A Sociolinguistic study of a Jargon Used by Bus Conductors in Bujumbura Bus Stations" sought to investigation how a group of people who operate within shared belief and profession, having diverse backgrounds can create its own system of communication. We seek to know how the prolonged interaction among them lead to the creation of a coded language and to what extent such a coded system is important for a social group. Our work is subdivided into five main chapters.
The first chapter which is General introduction gives a general overviem of the whole work. It describes the background to the problem, statement of the problem, research questions, purpose of the study, motivation, importance of the study, Scope and delimitation of the study.
The second chapter is Literature Review. It provides the reader with a general overview of previous research in relation to present work. It introduces the framework for Sociolinguistic study that comprises the main focus of jargon described in it. Besides, there is my comment on the previous treatment of the broad topic. This means that the main purpose of this chapter was to survey previous studies on sociolinguistic study of a jargon.
The third chapter of my thesis is Methodology which is concerned with the data collection method and research tools. It outlines the research strategy, the methods of data collection, the selection of the sample and the research process.
The fourth chapter deals with Data presentation. Analysis and interpretation of the Findngs. It consists of analysing the methods used; Studying the results and making a discussion of the findings.
The fifth chapter is the Conclusion and Recommendation. It presents the summary
of the research work undertaken, the conclusions drawn and the recommendations made as an outgrowth of this study
