RESUME,
This work discusses the issue of Christian morality and how Christians view polygamy in Mary Karooro Okurut's The Official Wife. It reveals the causes and consequences of polygamy in this novel. It goes further to show how this system if marriage conflicts with church laws on the issue. Written against the background of the Femminist and Marxist theories, the study settles on the hypothertical contention that polygamy is still a serious social problem in a Christian setting and that it weighs on women more than men. At the end, the work concludes that accepting Christian morality is a key to reconciliation as it acts as a solution to polygamy. This work aims at awakening the society's development.
