RESUME

This work aims at examining the role of rundi modern nuptial songs in breaking tradidion.This work treats assues related to marriages as far as traditional and modern wedding songs are concerned.The researchshows how tradition,Nonetheless,not only does this work deal with the semantic significance of the songs,but also,it pictures the implied intimidation and the severe warning in traditional wedding songs to the newly wedded couple about their shared duty in handling marital responsibly.Using the sociological approach as a guiding research tool,the study highlights the different pieces of advice to the newly-weds on marital issues,and it analyses how,when and why Burundians communicate through songs.Taking into considaration the intimidation of traditional wedding songs,as opposed to the modern ones which insist on melody,rythm and mere fashion,the researcher suggests the return to traditional songs as the best approach to celebrating a potentially successful marriage.
