Teachers'perception of the current english curriculum regards to the speaking skill development in basic schools of Karusi province

This study sought to find out the teachers points of view about teaching English in the current curriculum especially,the speaking skill in Basic schools.The study was conducted in karusi province.To this endend,the measuring intruments used were the teachers' questionnaires and textbook analysis which focused on contents,the methods and techniques suggested to be used in the teaching and learning of the speaking skill.At the end of this work,the collected data were analyzed and interpreted.The results showed that the contents and methods or techiques can allow developing the pupils' speaking ability if ever well implemented .But the teaching time is to be increased.
Recommendations such as organizing meetings at least once a month to exchange experience on how English lessons are taught especially speaking lessons so as to adopt strategies which can improve the learners' oral expression,organizing supplementary time in order to allow the learners to develop all English skills,organizing regular supervision for English teachers to verify if the methods or techniques recommended to teach english are being applied,atc are then addressed to different parteners of education such as teachers,BEPEF staff,the government and other researchers to improve the situation.
