RESUME,
This study aims at investigating the impact of taboo words in songs on the Burundian sociolingustic environment.It is intended to help peaple in understanding the impact of taboos on our language and cucture.The study was conducted in Bujumbura and the population under study were peaple at the construction plots,students at the Uniersity in sport activites and peaple in sport
activities and peaple in sport clubs.Results of this work were achieved through the use of a questionnaire,interviews and a participative observation.The work argues that the phenomenon of taboo words exists in community and is seen as part of the culture even if their use is not accepted in public.
Taboo words use is conditioned by the hardship conditions of the specific context in which peaple are Basing on the politess' approach as the theoretical framework for the analysis of linguistic taboos as applied in the Burundian culture,taboo words performers are somehow looked down.Taboo songs,even if they are seen as a deviation from the culture,are of importance in that,far from being nergezers,they contribute to the growth of the language ,
However,taboo words are a sword of to edges.If not handled with care,they may destroy the language,since it will lose its pleasantness.In this angle,at the end of this work the researcher has come up with some suggestions that may help in reducing or banning the spread of taboo words in our community.
