RESUME,

This research has analyzed the teacheing techniques used by primary school English teachers in the 6th grade school in Kabezi commune. Questions that guided the research concern the types of teaching techniques the teachers adopt while teaching the speaking skill and the way those tzechniques could be revised for better pupils' enhancement in English fluency.
Regarding methodology, the data used in this research were collected through a classroom observation, a questionnaire answered by teachers of 6th grade and, because of lack of time to answer a questionnaire, interview was administered to headmasters. The researcher decided to chose his sample in the 25 schools that attained 6th grade among 26 primary schools in Kabezi commune. Five schools, that is, 1/5 of the 25 primary schools were selected randomly to be worked on. Hence, 5 headmasters and 5 teachers of those schools were taken automatically to be our respondents.
The results have shown that the lack of experienced teachers, large classes, inadequate curriculum, and insufficient time allotted to English and shortage in teaching materials are barriers to the teaching of the English speaking skill. In fact, the teachers put emphasis on role play and simulations only.

Thus, the recommendations call upon various stakeholders in education, especially at primary school, to engage themselves in providing experienced teachers and training sessions in order to improve the English teaching/learning at primary school. In addition, further researchers are suggested to conduct their studies on the techniques that should be used in the teaching/learning of other English skills and levels of study other than speaking and 6th grade primary school.
