RESUME,

A jargon is one the language spread by a particular group of a given society. Therefore, based on words and expression used by pupils, this study sought to establish << A Sociolinguistic Study of the Jargon Spoken by Pupils in Bukeye commune: The Case of Lycee Notre Dame de l'Annonciation de Bukeye ( S/Y: 2016-2017) >>.
Considering the research findings, the study was carried out with 249 respondents, that is, 92 pupils of 4th cycle fundamental, and 157 pupils of post-fundamental school. The researcher found that jargon was spoken in the whole classes, and was spread through 10 major domains of pupils' life. After analyzing the data collected from the pupils of the pupils of the school under study, the researcher found that during the creation of the jargon, pupils used normal languages such as Kirundi, French, Swahili, ENglish and those of unusual languages. The jargon used had two meanings, that is general meaning and social meaning. The observation, the face-to-face conversation and the questionnaire are the lajor instruments that have been used by the researcher to collect the data.
To conclude, there is a need for other researchers to do research in this field since words and expressions are created as time progresses.
