RESUME,
This study sets out to examine the portrayal of the woman through henry fielding's joseph Andrews.It analyses how women have coped with eighteenth-century British culture.It in this perspective that it aims to differentiate two kids of women.On one hand,it focuses on women who have not conformed to social's norms of the time.They have broken moral roles because they have not preserved their womanhood as the society demands.On the other hand,this study assesses women who have confirmed to this cultural requirement despite the hard times they experience.In this view,this study operates on the assumption that some of Fielding's female characters in Joseph Andrews act against moral values due to their turbulent passion,While others' self-restraint remains anwavering.This work concludes that there are conformists and non-conformists women within the society.In joseph Andrews,for instance,those who conform to the norms of behaviour are accepted and the non-conformists are considered as marginal.
