RESUME,

The study was to find out problems that hinder the effective learning of English in scientific section of tree provinces .Those schools are Don BoscoLycee in Ngozi,Monseigneur Joachim Ruhuna Lycee in Ruyigi.I investigated the natural environment in English language learning,teaching /learning materials necessary in Language learning,and students' attitudes towards English and Frencinterference in English.
Data were collected by means of students' and teachers' questionnaires designed to seek information about the natural environment in English language learning;teaching/learning materials and aids,students' attitude towards English and the interference of French in English.
Through this research it was found out that learning English in scientific section of secondary schools in Burundi does not come to the required proficiency levels because of the lack of natural English language learning Environment,insufficiency of English language learning Environment,insufficiency of teaching/learning materials and aids,students' negative attitudes towards English and the French interence on English.
