RESUME,

The study aims at showing how to strengthen the learners' motivation in the speaking skill in English in Burundi science section.It is structured around both research questions and hypotheses that deal with how the pupils of science Section of secondary schools express themselves in English,how the english program motivates pupils to speak English and finally how practice motivates learners to speak.In order to carry out this stady,teachers' questionnaire,pupils' questionnaire as well as classroom observation have been used.A total number of five teachers and 183 pupils selected in second and first classes both girl and boy are involved.The findings are that pupils are unable to express themselves because of the lack of motivation ,overcrowded classroom.In addition,the time allocated to discussion is not enough to learn the speaking skill in English language.Therefore,the study after identifying all those handicaps encountered by pupils in the course of learning,some recommendations to English teachers,to pupils of science section,to the curriculum designers and finally to the further researchers are formulated so as to improve the speaking skill in English.
