RESUME,

The present study measures performance of students on different types of collocations,especially verb+ Noun +Noun +Verb collocations among second year students from the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Burundi.Tree aims,i.e.the extent to which Bac2 English majors at the University of Burundi use (verb-noun and noun-verb) collocations errors made by bac2 English majors at the University of Burundi,guided this work .To achieve these aims,a sample of forty-six (46) essays written by second year students from the Department of English language and literature was analyzed.Results show that (i) Bac2 English majors at the University of Burundi do not use well verb+ Noun and Noun+Verb collocations,(ii) Noun +Verb collocation is the type which causes more problems to learners.The findings also indicate that overgeneralization,French interference,Kirundi (Li) influence,and the produced by second year students from the Department of English language and Language at the University of Burundi.Suggestion aimed to improve the written productions of English majors are discussed in light of these findings.
