RESUME,
This study sets out to identify the socio-cultural prerequisites for the proper understanding of some Kirundi songs,especially lullabies.
It shows how the words of language are symbolically displayed through a literary process via sociolinguistics.To understand songs,especially lullabies,one should have knowledge of the culture of the society in which those songs are uttered . For collecting the data,I used an interview with a questionnaire.To analyzing,i found out that no one can understand what an item means without having knowledge of the society in which it is used.
