This study on "Using visual aids in teaching english vocabulary to seventh forms learners in burundi basic schools.A study conducted in selected schools in Muramvya province" investigates the use of visualaids in teaching English vocabulary to seventhy form pupils of Basic schools. This intended tp answer the following research questions that guided this research: What are the avaible visual aids at school?Are the seventh form teachers aware of the importance of visual aids while teaching English vocabulary? How often are the students exposed to the available visual aids by their teacher?How are visual aids effectively used and interpreted while teaching vocabulary? To get answers to those questions,clasroom observation was conducted and a questionnaire was administered to both seventh form pupils and teachers. This study was carried out with 160 subjects,150 students and 10 teachers. The min finding were the following: some teachers were not trained to teach English and some visual aids were avaible while others were not. There were some teachers who sometimes used the available visual aids whereas others did nor care about them.

Furthermore,teachers who used visual aids helped they are pupils understand vocabulary faster than those who did not une them. The researcher made two main recommendations among others. To the government, we suggest that the government distribue visual aids to schools. To teachers,they are invited to frequently use visual aids they can possibly afford since visual aids enhance pupils'understanding of the new words presented to them.
