RESUME?

This work entitled:<<unqualifield teachers and inadequate methodology as hindrances to the teaching and learning of the Engish language at basic school level:Case of seventh form in some secondary schools of Nyanza -lac commune"aims at showing the relationship between the methodology and qualification of teachersand the quality of learning among the students.The hypotheses in this work are that qualified teachers of english deliver better their lessons than unqualified ones,methodology used and qualifications of teachers contribute to the quality of learning of student in english in seventh form.Qualification and methodology contribute to the efficient use of materials in the teaching-learning process.The study was conducted in Makamba province especially in nyanza Lac commune .As far as the methodology is conccerned,a written questionnaire was the main method used to collect data from respondents in seven schools.In order to get some information,the researcher used two kinds of questionnaire:teachers' questionnaire and lears' questinnaire.The data were collected,analyzed,and interpreted.Through the data analysis and interpretation,the researcher discovered that when there is a sound methodology and when a teacher is qualified to teach English language,there will be a successful teaching/learning and as result good outcome,the variation of methodology is very important in the process of teaching a language ,to be equipped with skills for using materials contribute to an efficient teaching/learning process.
