Résumé,

In recent years, in the field of teaching and learning English language, researches have been carried out and more are still being done in order to improve the teaching of English in primary schools. However, as a foreign language, no favourable external conditions exist for English to be learned and taught effectively. This state of affairs has put a serous obstacle on the way of both the teachers and learners.

This work titled "THE CONTRIBUTION OF GAMES AND ROLE-PLAY IN THE TEACHING OF THE ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILL IN SOME SELECTED PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN RUYIGI PROVINCE AND BUJUMBURA CITY" deals with a field that has been explored by a number of researchers at different levels. Among the works already accomplished are Christine Ngaruko's "Teaching English through games and songs in junior stage of Burundi secondary schools", Floride Bahenda's "Evaluation of the speaking skill in Bujumbura Private Primary schools : the case 5th Form year Pupils".

A king of teaching appropriate to young pupils is needed.
