Résumé,

This work examines how man is a victim of a woman through Amadi's The Concubine and Francis Scott Fitsgerald's The Great Gatsby. This work is based on the hypothetical assumption that women have non -physical power which puts men into captivity and makes the latter helpless in the hands of the former.

It aims at pointing out that men exhibit a sense of incompleteness which is covered by a woman standing by their side.
The work furthermore seeks to show that this incompleteness makes men helpless in the hands of women, and this is valid for people from different backgrounds. In this light, women have natural power which enslaves men and makes them victims. Written against the Formalism Approach, this work seeks to show that, because of his weakness in front of a woman, a man is often led to catastrophic ends because of the negative influence of woman.
