A Thesis Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Award of the Degree "Licence en Langue et Littérature Anglaises ".

Résumé,

This work examines the image of women in Richard Wright's Native Son.
The novel under study tackles the socioeconomic, political and cultural problems black people and women undergo in American society. Using the feminist theory, the researcher examines the status of women in American society.

He also assesses the reaction to rising social and political issues. It is obvious that women are not favourable to making immediate change to the problems already stated. This thesis is based on the fact that women show passivity and resignation with regard to the struggle for equal rights. This study suggests some of the ways to handle and tackle social and political problems.
