Résumé,

This work discusses the issue of polygamy in the African society through Ojaide's The Debt-Collector and Other Stories. Il reveals the causes, practice and consequences of polygamy in thiswork. This work also aims at awakening the consciences of the society by showing them how the issue of polygamy is the source of many troubles when it is not carefully managed. Written against the background of the Naw Historicism Theory and Psychoanalytic Theory, this work settles on the note that, both men and women are affected by the evils of polygamy when it is poorly done. At the end, this researcher asserts that the consequences of polygamy are my and various. So, it sould be well handled in order to maintain peace and harmony in the family and community.
