Résumé,

The present work is about non verbal communication in social interactions. The researcher carries out an investigation to find out whether in Kabezi commune people understand really the gestures they perform when they are interacting.

Some people have been selected as the informants of the study. The instruments used to gather the data were questionaire, interviews and observations. The answers to the specific research questions were categorized together and then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively.

Gestures and facial expressions have been analyzed also to show their importance during people's interaction. The study revealed that people from Kabezi use gestures or facial expressions when they are interacting with each other. Our body is a rich source of information because it displays a great number of messages either pleasant.

During a conversation, if a listener seeks for a speaking-turn, he or she can raise his / her hand or can perfom other gestures because it is impolite to speak while a person you are interacting with has not finished speaking yet. In people's everyday conversations, a gesture can stand alone to convey a message or can be used to reinforce a verbal message.
