Résumé,

The present study deals with the "Analysis of Errors made by Burundian English learners in the use of tenses . The case of Arts first-forms in some selected secondary schools of Bujumbura Municipality".

It seeks to anlyze erros made by English learners in the use of tenses. Furthermore it aims at showing what the causes of these errors are and how English learners should avoid commiting of them. Three research hypotheses guided the carrying out of my research : Firstly, the errors made in the use of tenses are due to inadequate teaching methods.
Secondly, Errors made in the of tenses are due to the lack of mastery of the rules governing English tenses.

Thirdly, the lack of teaching materials such as grammar books is one of the causes of learners'errors. In order to prove right or to refute these hypotheses, I used students' test as well as two questionnaires distributed to both students and teachers.

The data got from these instruments proved the hypotheses above. In fact, the committing of errors are due to the methods used while teaching English, also the non-mastery of the rules governing the use of tenses as well as the lack of teaching materials such as grammar books are other causes of committing Errors in the use of tenses by Arts first-forms English learners. The work by a number of suggestions formulated so as to help the learnrs in avoiding or at least reducing the commiting of errors in the use of tenses.
