Résumé,

The topic of this study is "A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE PERFORMANCE OF BLIND AND SIGHTED ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS : CASE STUDY OF NOTRE DAME DE LA SAGESSE LYCEE IN GITEGA PROVINCE" The study aims at comparing the performance of blind and sighted pupils in the English language so as to assess whether or not blindness is a hindrance to one's school performance.The hypotheses of this study are : The différence between the English language performance by blind and sighed pupils is small; and blindness cannot hinder the English language learning performance when studying under he right conditions. For the present investigation, three data collection tools were used : classroom observation, pupils, and teachers' questionnaires and the analysis of annual scores of three school years. At the end of this study, the researcher found that blindness is not a hindrance to one's English language learning performance. However, learning conditions are not appropriate well enough to blind pupils. This may cause the low performance on blind pupils' behalf.
