Résumé,

This work examines Existentialism in Albert Camus's "The Outsider". It is the actions of Meursault, the main character, that make the novel and define existentialism. With his complete indifference to the world, therefore he rebels against the established conventions and beliefs of the society. However, the death of his mother and his relation with Marie don't mean anything. As a matter of fact, Meursault killed an Arab and society's reaction results to his incarceration and execution.

Employing Psychoanalytic Approach, this work analyzes the main character's changes through unconscious to conscious processes due to his life experience in prison. Finally, it shows Meursault is struggling to meaning tolife and how bravely embraces death.
