Résumé,

With regard to the importance and place of English in the world in general and in Burundi in paricular, this research study is about "the assessment of the use of English in different Ministries of the Government of Burundi by Spokespersons and permanent Secretaries. " The study was conducted in diffèrent cabinets of Ministers exactly in Ministry permanent Secretaries and Spokespersons offices. This study intended to answer a number of questions that were formulated for my research. To find out answers to the staed questons, face-to-face contact was used on the one hand. This aimed at getting first-hand and complementary information. On the other hand, questionnaires were addressed to both Ministry spokespersons and permanent Secretaries. The purpose was to find out when, where and how much English is being used in Burundi government Ministries, the problems faced while using English and what should be done to overcome them. By the end of my research, the findings revealed that Minisry spokespersons and permanent Secretaries use English and face serious problems while using English. All in all, it is suggested that Ministry Spokespersons and permanent Secretaries, by practicing English, can improve the use of English in all its skills. In the end a general concluson and some recommendations were drawn and formulated by the researcher
