Résumé,
This study examines injustice that is practised in post-colonial kenya and the struggle for justice by the main character in Ngugi wa Thiong'o' Matigari. It traces the people's dreams for independence and the socio-political malpractices put in place by those on whom the masses built their dreams of socio-political and economic freedom and emancipation from colonial ills. Tired of the injustice manifest of post independent Kenyan leaders and the miserable life conditions of workers and peasants, this work displays Ngugi's commitment to highlight the chaotic situation using a former warrior-Matigati to champon the fight againts the new exploiters. This work is based on the hypothetical view that he injustices committed by the new political leaders in Ngugi wa Thiong'o's Matigari create a revolutionary character who fights for justice for all. Written the backdrop of New Historicism theory, this study is situated within the context of Kenyana struggle of independence and the socio-plitical and economic problems that plague the post-independence period.
