Résumé,

This work aims at examining marriage and its consequences in jane Austen's pride and prejudice. The work analyses the reasons behind marriage in the novel in order to present its reader how a marriage based on worldly things other than love hardly give good results. Through the use of sociological approach, the study explores marriage by showing how the society of the author is mirrored through her novel and how class distinction contitutes hindrances to good retionships. This work is based on the hypothesis that marriage hardly succeeds when there is no love between two partners since most of the time it presents regrets in life. To sum up, this study analyses the consequences of a marriage based on worldly possession and undervalue love in ordre to wipe away some illusions concerning marriage.
