Résumé,

This work entitled Analysis to Obstacles of Oral fluency and performance in fourth-form Classes in English language learning in Bugendana Secondary Schools sets out to identify the odstacles related to speaking skill in development of oral fluency and performance in fourth-form classes In secondary schools. Its main objective is to investigate factors that contribute towards the poor fluency and performance of fourth-form learners and prevent them from achievng the performance required to get into the upper level of secondary schools. The lack of enough materials, sufficient teachers and comfortable classroom may affect ther sense of oral performance in English.

Furthermone, the fact that bugendana pupils were not raised in English environment may have a negative effect in oral fluency and performance. The researcher used a questionnaire but also classroom observations as research instrument to collect the data. The data collected are processed, analyzed, and interpreted quantitatively. After the analysis, it is discovered that teachers at this level do not give a prominent place to speaking skill teaching as it was supposed to be done. This leads to low performance of the pupils in oral communication abilities to express themselves efficiently in English. Some practical recommendations for improvement are put forward to all stakeholders in Education to correct the dentified errors. This work is believed t be very useful to researchers, teachers and pupils alike.
